Introduction
Can you please introduce yourself and tell us a little about your background?
Hello, my name is Florian, I’m german and come from the Heilbronn area. I’m passionate about foilboarding, snowboarding and nature. I’m a kindergarden educator, and I also teach Judo Training for teenagers and older kids. Additionally I’m part of a rock band with friends. (Wolfsklinge). I would really like to connect with other foilborders and grow together in this Sport.
How did you first get introduced to pumpfoiling?
In 2021 I watched a video on Youtube, and in this moment I knew I wanted to try this sport. Three days later, I bought an indiana 1100P. And that’s how I started.
Journey into Pumpfoiling
What attracted you to pumpfoiling in the first place?
The feeling of “Wölkchen springen, like flying”. Pumping, gliding and carving.
Can you describe your first experience with pumpfoiling?
It was harder to learn than I thought. The key is, to keep on trying.
How long did it take you to become proficient?
Around 5 to 8 sessions.
Challenges
What was the biggest challenge you faced when learning to pumpfoil?
Finding good spots for a beginner; the frustration of failling multiple times; and also trying this all by myself were big challenges.

What keeps you going in the sport?
The pleasure
Do you have any specific goals or milestones you’re aiming for?
To get better at riding waves, and high drops (my highest drop is 203 cm)

Are you involved in any other water sports or activities?
Judo, snowboarding and longboarding.
How do other sports or activities complement your pumpfoiling?
They make me fit and resilient.
Gear and Equipment
Can you talk about your gear? What do you recommend for beginners?
My current gear is a Axis 1300. My board is selfmade. For beginners I recommend a smaller board.
How important is the role of technology in pumpfoiling?
Super important to develop new gear, but I cannot aford it right now.

How has pumpfoiling impacted your lifestyle?
It’s now a part of my life, that I don’t want to miss.
Are you part of a community or group that shares your passion?
We have a small community since beginning of this year (Obersulm).
